MILT SCOTT
ROCKY VIEW COUNTY DIVISION 5 COUNCIL CANDIDATE

TIME FOR A CHANGE

My
Mission
I’m a committed community member and creative problem solver who believes it’s time for a change in Rocky View County. Known for thinking outside the box, I believe I can use that way of thinking to create change. I’ve spent years bringing people together through agriculture and local events that strengthen our rural roots.

I’ve raised my family here in Rocky View County, and I’ve worked in the County for many years. Now, I want to take that experience and perspective to the next level by representing our district on County Council.

Over the years, I’ve been deeply involved in organizing and hosting major community events, including the Canadian Sheep Dog Championship, and have served on several boards in the Stock Dog Community. Additionally, I have been directly involved in a large farming operation all while networking in the County, and have been responsible for negotiating with large box stores on sales of agriculture products at a national level.

Through these experiences, I’ve seen firsthand how collaboration and clear communication can achieve great results. I believe Rocky View County should be a place where agriculture and business thrive together, where red tape doesn’t hold back good ideas.

“If everything was running the way it should, Rocky View wouldn’t have the reputation it does. It’s time for change.”

Why Choose Me

Supporting Local Business & Cutting Red Tape
Rocky View County should be a place where small and large businesses can thrive, not get caught up in administrative red tape.
I believe in:
-
Streamlining rules, regulations, and processes to make it easier to start and grow a business in RVC.
-
Improving communication between the County office and business owners. Ensure clear, timely, and accessible communication.
-
Reviewing outdated bylaws and redundant procedures.
-
Encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship through a culture of collaboration, not obstruction.

“Running a business in Rocky View County should be simple, efficient, and fair. Let’s remove the obstacles of distrust.”
Agriculture & Business Thriving Together
Agriculture built Rocky View County and keeps it growing. I believe both must be equally supported and respected, working hand in hand to strengthen our economy and rural way of life.
-
Protect and promote agriculture as the foundation of the county
-
Encourage partnerships between farmers, agri-business, and local industry
-
Ensure land use and development policies balance growth with agricultural sustainability

“Rocky View should be a place where agriculture and business thrive together — not compete for space.”

Smart Spending & Efficient Government
I want every tax dollar to work as hard as the people who earn it.
I believe RVC can deliver the same or better services with fewer inefficiencies by:
-
Auditing administrative processes to identify waste and redundancies.
-
Leveraging technology and modern tools to improve turnaround times and transparency.
-
Encouraging a results-based culture in the County office by measuring feedback from applicants.
-
Exploring opportunities to cut costs without cutting quality, keeping taxes stable for residents and businesses.

“When the County works efficiently, everyone benefits — from the taxpayer to the entrepreneur.”
Foster Strong Relationships with the Province
Rocky View County can’t operate in a silo.
I will work to foster the relationship between RVC and the Alberta Government, ensuring that:
-
The County has a strong, respected voice in provincial decision-making.
-
Funding, infrastructure, and regulatory support from Alberta align with RVC’s economic and rural priorities.
-
Local concerns are heard, understood, and acted on at the provincial level.
-
RVC becomes known as a model of cooperation and progress, not red tape and resistance.

“When Rocky View and Alberta work together, we all move forward.”
